We left last Tuesday and beat all the way to Lowestoft winds up to 35 kn , 3 reefs and a small jib. The boat handled it well but one of the crew did not take tablets and threw up and slept all the way . We hit foul tides off southwold and spent 3 hrs at 2 kn  getting into lowestoft at 21:00

Left Lowestoft Thursday lunchtime with light or N or N 3  forecast with thick fog nr Whitby. Motored 95% of the way with overcast and a very cold night , arriving at Whitby in sun but having to slow down to get the tide in. approx 18:00 Friday. 31 hours at sea , At least the engine is nearly run in.

Left Whitby in cold but sunny weather at 7:00 and motored to Hartlepool where the seasick crew man had a train booked.

1st Puffin seen.

The Cruising Association book states a 2m boat can enter 5 hrs either side of tide and the channel is dredged to CD. We arrived at 2.5 hrs before With 2.5 m of
tide and hit bottom in the middle of the entrance channel and stayed there for 4.5 hrs much to our embarrassment. Luckily the swell was minor and we stayed in
1.2m so the hull did not touch.

It looks like we now have to wait 8 days or so for favourable wind to start the next leg to Eyemouth , then Peterhead and Inverness.

Watch this space for further adventures..
